SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability
Almaco del Guadalquivir, S.L makes sustainability the basis of its project. Among its cultivation and production activities and its management model, criteria of economic, social and environmental sustainability are integrated.

We have planted a 315-hectare forest in the heart of the Guadalquivir valley,
with the positive effect that this has on the environment
How does Almaco del Guadalquivir, S.L reduce the impact on nature?

The company’s main challenge is to reduce the environmental impact. It is essential for the company to maintain the balance that is generated through the harmonious relationship between society and the nature that surrounds it.
Almaco del Guadalquivir, S.L integrally manages the production of the walnut, so the entire activity process of the company is controlled, from the selection and planting to the transport. This presence throughout the value chain allows the application of good practices in the sector and their use, which leads to greater efficiency in walnut production.
REDAWN project
It is a project that focuses on improving energy efficiency in water distribution networks through innovative technology based on the use of microturbines. This technology will recover excess energy in pipe networks for irrigation, urban supply, industry and water recycling.
The pilot plant for this project will be installed at Finca Calonge. The installation of a hydroelectric generator group consisting of a pump working as a 4 Kw turbine (PAT) will be carried out, which together with a set of solar panels and batteries, will make it possible to take advantage of excess pressure in the irrigation pipe, generating substitute electrical energy which currently supplies for an irrigation head with a diesel generator set. The energy generated will serve to meet the demands of the irrigation head, that is, fertilizer injection pumps, filtering systems, and irrigation programming and control equipment for an approximate surface area of 140 hectares.
